Triund Trek: Ordinary to Extra Ordinary- A journey to the Mountains

It’s been a long time when I wrote something. I was either busy in travelling or college works. It’s not like I did not want to write but I was just thinking what should I write next. I already said that I have so many stories to tell you but what should be the sequence? I decided that I will close my eyes and the first place will come in front of me, I will write about that only.  As per the plan, I did the same and saw a green tent…Triund. Yes I found my subject. I was in triund few months back and there I stayed in tents. -4 degree bone chilling weather, frozen water, big mountains covered with snow, everything was there. So let me, again, take you to the mighty Himalayas.

I love mountains and whenever I get a chance to be there, I go. The journey of triund was also like the same as others. Triund is not that much unique and special, neither it is situated at that much height. But still, somehow I managed to convert this ordinary trip into an extra ordinary one. So everything started with one single question, where to go next? I have been to so many places in Himachal but never had been to Dharamshala and Mcleodganj. So I decided to go there. Dharamshala was 6 hours from Phagwara. I started in the evening and reached in the mid night. It was quite cold there. Jeet, my friend, had some contacts in Dharamshala so we managed to get a cheap hotel.  Next day we just roamed here and there. Dharamshala and Maclodganj are quite famous places so it was crowd there. I don’t feel comfortable in noise. I mean yes I was at a hill station, beautiful place, beautiful sceneries, monks and monasteries but what’s the point when all places are fully occupied by people from all over India and world.

It was supposed to be a short trip. Just go and come types but since we were not satisfied, we decided to extend our trip and move further to Triund. Triund is a small trek which has two different routes from Mcleodganj. I have been trekking from the last few years so I thought it should not be tough for me. We started in the afternoon and as soon as I moved up, I started feeling weights. My breath was getting heavy. I was not able to understand that why the hell it is happening. I realized that I have put on a lot of weight, from 63 kg to 79 kg. It was quite tough for me to get on the top. Thanks to Jeet and other passerby who motivated me keep going. As soon as I reached at the base camp, I forgot every pain, every problem and every single shit from the outer world. It was very calm there. Mountains covered with snow, small camps and just 4 people. The base camp was not at the Triund and from there it took 2 more hours to reach there. Next day we started for Triund and once I reach there, I realized that the situation is not much different from Dharamshala and Mcleodganj. Noise, Punjabi songs in full volume on big speakers, rush, plastics. These things were more enough to push us back to the base camp. We stayed there for few hours and returned back to the base camp.

Sometimes all you need is no one but only you for yourself. I was doing the same thing. For 5 days I was disconnected from the outer world. No friends, no family, no university, no work and no students but just me. It was one of the most brilliant memories I have got.

Kamakhya Temple, Guwahati: Ambubachi mela||Assam||Kamakhya Mandir|| Ambu...

I am just sharing what was left in the last blog. I think this time I don't need any words to share my experience. This video is enough to tell you and to take you to the world of thrill.  I am sure you are going to like this. If you have read my blog on Kamakhya temple, you can easily relate this thing with that. I was experiencing the thrill of religious beliefs, magic, devotion. I don't have boom mic so please ignore the noise. Camera is very shaky because of crowd, please ignore that also.

In the last, I have created a new youtube channel. You can watch my all travel videos there. Please like, share and subscribe my channel so I could grow faster and bring more travel stories for you.

The hidden tressures of Himachal Pradesh: Exploring Bakloh and Jot.

I have been travelling in India from the last 5 years and this is why I have so many stories to share with you all. This time I am going to tell you about a very small village of Himachal Pradesh. I never knew the existence of this village until one of my colleagues invited me to his home. He is from that place only. Now without taking much time, allow me to take you to Bakloh, a small village, 120 km from Dalhousie, Himachal Pradesh.

I was working in lovely professional university, Punjab at that time. LPU is a hub of so many amazing people. I met people from almost every part of our county. Once we had 3-4 days holiday in a row so we were thinking how we can utilize these days. I had a colleague, Sameer; he later became my flat mate, who was from Himachal Pradesh. He asked me and one student, Jeet, to come to his home with him. Jeet had a Santro car so we decided to go from that only. The total distance was 200 km. We started our journey in evening, approx. 5 pm. Since we were driving on the hills so we preferred to go slow. It took 6 hours to reach there. We were tired so we just went to his house and slept. Next morning when I woke up, I was totally surprised; we were told that Bakloh is a small village so I was expecting a small village only with basic things, but the scene was quite different there. I was seeing a well settled and systematic village. Everything was so well crafted. The people were so good. I met Sameer’s parents. They are so nice and friendly. After breakfast I and jeet went for a walk. Yeah, it was a pure himachali village. Beautiful houses, mountains, narrow roads and fresh air. I was in love with everything. Later I realized that it was a village of Gorkha community and one member of almost every house works in Indian army. Sameer’s father is also a retired army officer. I met so many amazing people there. I can say that this village is a hidden gem. Totally unexplored and untouched.

Next day we left for Jot, again an untouched hidden treasure. Jot is a very good spot for people who hate crowd. Jot is such a small place that there is only one hotel near the bus stop. The food and the rooms at the hotel are very good. When you are at the top of the cliff, you can experience the magnanimity of the mountains. The complete silence and the sunlight breaking through the clouds to light up the mountains will make you awe and ponder over the beauty of nature. We spent whole day at Jot, just staring at the beauty of nature.

While returning from Jot, we stopped at Khajjiar. A beautiful but over crowded hill station. After the silence of Jot, it was not possible for us to experience the noise of Khajjiar so we left in 1 hour only and reached back to Bakloh.

The holiday was over and now it’s time to get back to work. Next day early morning we started driving back to Phagwara with amazing memories.
